Telling the most important story of our time
Allison Agsten grew up in a place so rural that after her dad built their house, her mom made up the address. She grew up on and with the land, and it’s what led her to the work she does today. A former broadcast producer, Allison believes that telling the climate story is not just about the words, it’s about the pictures. “We need to humanize this…We are a deeply visual culture, now more than ever. We can’t afford to just show the low hanging fruit with the most important story of our time.”
Allison, the Director of USC Annenberg’s Center for Climate Journalism and Communications, trains journalists, scientists, activists, students and others on how to talk about climate. If we don’t know how to talk effectively about what’s happening, she believes, we’ll never be able to solve this challenge.
